ORIC reporting, prepared properly
We prepare the annual reports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations must lodge under the CATSI Act — and give boards the CFO-level support that keeps the numbers meaningful between deadlines.
What we do
Annual reporting
General, financial and directors’ reports prepared and lodged on time, with your auditor’s queries handled for you.
Bookkeeping through the year
Day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll and grant acquittals, so December is a formality rather than a scramble.
CFO and board support
Board-ready financial reporting, governance support and turnaround work from an adviser who understands CATSI Act obligations.
We prepare the reports. We don’t audit them.
An accountant who prepares a corporation’s accounts cannot independently audit those same accounts, and ORIC requires the auditor to be a registered company auditor or an authorised audit company. So we do the preparation, and we work alongside your independent auditor rather than replacing them. In practice that means your board gets one team managing the whole cycle, and an audit that is properly independent.
Frequently asked questions
What reports does our corporation have to lodge each year?
Corporations registered under the CATSI Act lodge a general report, a financial report, a directors’ report and an audit report each year, though which of these apply depends on your corporation’s registered size and income. Reports are due within six months of the end of your reporting period — for a 30 June year end, that is 31 December. We can confirm exactly what your corporation owes and prepare it.
Do you audit corporations as well?
No, and that is deliberate. An accountant who prepares a corporation’s accounts cannot independently audit those same accounts, and ORIC requires the auditor to be a registered company auditor or an authorised audit company. We prepare your reports and work alongside your independent auditor — including handling their queries, which is usually where boards lose the most time.
Our reports are already overdue. Is it too late?
No. Late lodgement is common and it is fixable. The important thing is to start, because the register of corporations that have not lodged is public and the position does not improve on its own. Talk to us about what is outstanding and we will tell you plainly what it takes to bring the corporation back up to date.
Are you part of ORIC?
No. We are an independent accounting firm and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations or the Commonwealth. ORIC is the regulator; we are the accountants a corporation engages to prepare its reports.
Do you work with corporations outside your own state?
Yes. Most of this work is done remotely — we work with corporations across Australia, including in remote communities, using cloud accounting and video meetings. Distance is not a barrier to preparing your reports properly.
